CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital is home to the Cleft Center-First Appalachian Craniofacial Deformity Specialists (FACES). The center is the only facility of its kind in West Virginia that specializes in the comprehensive management of congenital and acquired cranio/maxillofacial deformities and related problems.
The center is comprised of specialist physicians, dentists and allied health providers committed to both young and older patients in need of comprehensive craniofacial management for congenital and acquired deformities. The center also serves as a resource for primary care providers in the evaluation and management of patients who may require a specialist’s care. Consultants from neurosurgery, otolaryngology, genetics, dentistry, speech, audiology, social work and other disciplines are available for each patient’s visit during clinic hours.
Reconstructive services include: cleft lip and palate; cranial suture fusion (misshapen head); growth problems of the facial region; crooked and misaligned jaws; eye and ear anomalies and asymmetries; vascular anomalies of the facial region; prosthetic replacement of teeth; speech and swallowing evaluation.
