David
P. Wise, MD, DDS
,
is the medical director of the Facial
Surgery Center, a center he helped found in 1996. He received
his medical degree and surgical training at the University of
Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska and his dental
degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in
Iowa City, Iowa. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Biology at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and he practiced
general dentistry in Garden Grove, California for three years. Dr.
Wise is Board Certified for the American Board of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery.
He
is a Clinical Professor at West Virginia University School of
Medicine, Department of Surgery and a Clinical Assistant
Professor at West Virginia University School of Dentistry,
Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
He
is currently Chief of the Department of Surgery at the
Charleston Area Medical Center and the President of the
Kanawha Medical Society. He is a member of the American
Medical Association, the American Dental Association, and the
American Society of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Wise’s special
interests include sleep apnea, cosmetic surgery, hair
transplants, and dental implants. |

Bruce
B. Horswell, MD, DDS, MS, FACS is
the Medical Director of FACES (First Appalachian
Craniofacial DEformity Specialists).
He is a member of the American Association of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Cleft
Palate-Craniofacial Association. He obtained his medical
degree and surgical training from the University of
Connecticut in Farmington, Connecticut and his dental degree
and oral maxillofacial training from the University of
Minnesota. He completed two craniofacial Fellowships at the
Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia and the
Royal Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, England. He was on
the faculty at the University of Maryland Medical Center
in Baltimore, Maryland and also has been in private practice
in his home state of Minnesota. Dr. Horswell is Board
Certified for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery and is a well-known national and international
speaker.
FACES
is affiliated with Charleston Area Medical Center-Women and
Children’s Hospital. We specialize in the comprehensive
management of congenital and acquired cranio/maxillofacial
deformities and related problems. We have a multidisciplinary
team which includes craniomaxillofacial surgery, neurosurgery,
otorhinolaryngology, pediatric genetics, audiology, speech
therapy, orthodontic/pediatric dentistry, nursing and social
work for children with treatment of facial deformities such as
cleft lip and palate, cranial suture fusion (misshapen head),
growth problems of the facial region, crooked and misaligned
jaws, eye and ear anomalies or asymmetries, birth marks or
vascular lesions, and speech and swallow evaluation is
offered. FACES also serves as a resource for primary care
providers in regard to these problems. |

James
M. Henderson, MD, DDS
received his Doctor of
Medicine and surgical training from the University of Maryland
in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his Doctor of Dental
Surgery from the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and
earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of
California in Irvine, California. Dr. Henderson is a Clinical
Instructor with the West Virginia University School of
Medicine and a Clinical Instructor with the West Virginia
School of Dentistry. Dr. Henderson is Board Certified
for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr.
Henderson is a member of the American Medical Association, the
American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and
the American Dental Association. He is an Associate Fellow of
the American College of Surgeons. His special interests
include oral cancer, head and neck pathology and
reconstruction, and dental implants. |

The
Facial
Surgery Center is staffed by several talented individuals.
These include registered nurses, dental assistants, support
staff, and clerical staff. The practice also employs a
practice manager and office coordinator.
